LED strips - GENERAL INFORMATION-
Amount leds pulling? What is an LED strip? Which driver should I ride? You can join the LED strips?
There are different types of LED strips. The most common are flexible strips with adhesive on the back side and bearing with encapsulated SMD LEDs.
They come in rolls of 5 meters. These strips are cuttable every X number of LEDs. Everything depends on the design of the strip.
Cutting is usually every 6 LEDs. And also be connected at least two rolls of 5 meters in series.
The thing to keep in mind when selecting a strip of LEDs is:
- Number of LEDs per meter: Depending on the number of LEDs per meter strip will light more or less:
60 LEDs per meter SMD 3528 LED = 60 x (3 or 5 lumens) = 180 to 300 lumens per meter.
120 LEDs per meter SMD 3528 LED = 120 x (3 or 5 lumens) = 360 to 600 lumens per meter.
30 LEDs per meter SMD 5050 LED = 30 x (10 to 15 lumens) = 300 to 450 lumens per meter.
60 LEDs per meter SMD 5050 LED = 60 x (10 to 15 lumens) = 600 to 900 lumens per meter.
-Power Consumption: Consumption of strips depends on the number and type of LEDs
SMD 3528 60 LEDs per meter = 4.8 W per meter strip.
SMD 3528 120 LEDs per meter = 9.6 W per meter strip.
SMD 5050 30 LEDs per meter = 7.2 W per meter strip.
SMD 5050 60 LEDs per meter = 14.4 W per meter strip.
LED-type: The strips usually have encapsulated SMD LEDs with two sizes:
SMD 3528 (3.5 mm x 2.8 mm): Each LED emits 3 to 5 lumens.
SMD 5050 (5.0 mm x 5.0 mm): Each LED emits between 10 and 15 lumens.
-Voltage: SMD LEDs powered by DC power, ie a power supply need to connect to the AC grid. The majority of the strips of LEDs operate at 12VDC.
He can join the strips of LEDs, yes. Cut the junction points between them and can be welded.
- Calculate the power supply.
An example: I need ceiling light a moat that is 15 meters. I choose SMD5050 LED strip of 60 LEDs per meter to 12V DC. How is sold in rolls of 5 meters,
I need to ask 3 rolls. I want you to come on the 15 meters at a time, then I need a power supply for 15 meters. To calculate it, as I know that strip
consumes 14.4 W per meter do the multiplication: 15 meters x 14.4 W = 216 W.
I need a source of at least 216 W, but the 30% to work with relief, ie a 280W to 12 VDC has to work.
The way the strip is connecting cables connect the RED and BLACK strip at the exit of the power supply.
+ Or + V with red wire
SIGN -,-V or COM with black cord
The power supply must be connected to the power supply of 230VAC (phase, neutral and earth).
- Application: Examples:
To decorate and add a little light to a ceiling moat: Often enough strips of 120 LEDs / m SMD3528 or 60 LEDs / m SMD5050.
To replace a fluorescent tube LED strip, with the double strip 60 LEDs / m SMD 5050 achieved good light.
To illuminate an office: It is usually used strip SMD5050 LEDs (60LEDs/metro). For example in offices removable roof strips can be placed in parallel
at a distance of 120 cm (ie every two removable plates of 60x60).
